How do I remove the alternate logins within InstantForum.NET?

Common Problems

With InstantForum.NET 2010 we provide the option for your users to login using Google, Yahoo, AOL, OpenID & if configured Twitter

Whilst this is helpful as you don't have to go through the forum registration process we appreciate your may wish to disable these options.

To remove the alternate logins panel & disable the ability to login via the 3rd party services follow the steps below…

1. Navigate to your InstantForum.NET \bin directory.

2. Remove the following DLLs from your bin directory...

  • DotNetOpenAuth.dll
  • DotNetOpenAuth.ApplicationBlock.dll

If InstantForum.NET does not find these assemblies the alternative logins panel won't be displayed.

Test Your Changes

Open your web browser and navigate to your InstantForum.NET installation. Visit the forum login page and you'll notice the panel on the right showing the alternative logins is no longer displayed.

I don't know about older versions, but in 2012-1 there's an <span class="TxtBold" id="ctl00_ctlContentPlaceHolder_ctl00_ctl00_ctlPanelBar_lblEnableOpenID1">"Enable Alternate Logins</span>" setting under Admin CP -&gt; Manage Settings -&gt; Login &amp; Registration.<br /><br />No need to delete dlls<br />
