Configuring IIS to work with InstantKB is straight-forward. Once you've copied the "InstantKB2018/src" folder into your web site directory you'll need to open IIS and locate the "src" folder. You can of course rename the "src" folder to something more appropriate. For example "InstantKB2018" or "kb".As InstantKB contains it's own bin directory and web.config file you'll need to make sure the "src" folder is marked as a web application within IIS.
Configuring IIS for InstantKB
- Bring up your start menu. Type in "IIS" (without the quotes). Launch Internet Information Services Manager.
- Locate the "src" folder and right-click to show the context menu.
- Click "Convert to Application" as shown below...
Once you've converted the "src" folder to a web application and configured the application pool for the "src" folder you can close IIS and continue with the installation.
Both Integrated and Classic pipe line modes are supported for the application pool you use for InstantKB.
We would suggest a ASP.NET 4.5 Integrated application pool.
You've now configure IIS for use with InstantKB. The next step is to set-up your InstantKB database.
