Customizing Email Templates

Our products generate a number of emails to inform users of various activities. For example when a new member registers on your forum or knowledgebase an email will be generated. You may wish to customize these emails.

Emails.xml

All emails generated by our software can be found within the "Globalization/en-US/Emails.xml file. To customize email templates simply open the "Emails.xml" file within NotePad or similar ASCII text editor.

You will need to locate the specific email template you wish to modify and update this. Once you save the file all future emails will include your updated text. For example to modify the registration email for InstantForum you would navigate to the Emails.xml file and locate the template below...

You may need to manually copy &amp; paste the URL into the address bar of your browser if the text above is not linked. Please watch for the URL wrapping onto 2 lines.

If you lose this email you can request the validation email be resent at [PathsSendValidationCode]

Once you have activated your account by clicking the link above you can you can login at anytime by clicking the link below.

If you forget your password you can have this resent to your email address at [PathsForgotPassword]

In this example we modify the template to provide a link to allow users to automatically subscribe to a newsletter.

HTML Emails

If you have HTML emails enabled within our software and wish to include HTML within email templates you can use square brackets to represent the less than and greater than characters. 

As our email templates are stored in XML format you can't use the < or > characters within your template.Instead use [ or ]. For example...

[img src="https://comany.com/images/logo.png"/]

Would be translated to...

<img src="https://comany.com/images/logo.png"/>
