This article details the steps necessary o upgrade from InstantKB 2016-2 to the InstantKB 2016-3 release. For a complete list of changes between our InstantKB 2016-2 and 2016-3 releases please refer to our InstantKB 2016-3 Release Notes.
Downloading InstantKB 2016-3
To begin your InstantKB 2016-3 download you'll need to visit your My.InstantASP account. Visit your Licenses page and click the "Download" button to the right of the InstantKB 2016-3 listing.
Once you've downloaded the ZIP file please extract the contents of the ZIP file to your local computer or web server desktop.
Upgrading Your InstantKB 2016-2 Database
There are no database changes required when upgrading from InstantKB 2016-2 to InstantKB 2016-3.
Install the updated InstantKB 2016-3 Files
If you've not modified InstantKB 2016-2 you can simply copy the InstantKB 2016-3 files over the top of your existing InstantKB 2016-2 files. You may wish to exclude the web.config file from InstantKB 2016-3 and keep your InstantKB 2016-2 web.config. The web.config has not changed between InstantKB 2016-2 and InstantKB 2016-3.
If your upgrading from InstantKB 2016-2 to InstantKB 2016-3 you only need to copy the files from InstantKB 2016-3 listed below into your existing InstantKB 2016-2 installation.
Updated Files & Folders
If you've customized your InstantKB 2016-2 installation you may wish to only copy the updated files within InstantKB 2016-3. To help we've provided a complete list of all folders and files you'll need to copy into your existing InstantKB 2016-2 installation to avoid a completely new installation.
The following folders within the root of your InstantKB web site installation have been updated with InstantKB 2016-2.
Upgrading from an older release?
If your upgrading from an older release of InstantKB to our InstantKB 2016-3 release please refer to Upgrading from an older version of InstantKB.
The web.config has not changed between InstantKB 2016-1 and InstantKB 2016-2.
