| Hi All, With all the fuss recently with regards to the latest forum release many of you may be mistaken for thinking we've forgot about InstantKB.NET. This is simply not true. I've provided below some brief information below containing release dates and expected features. I'll continue to revise this topic once things become a little more concrete. InstantKB.NET v2.0 We cannot guarantee all features will make it into the v2.0 release. We will do our very best. - Localization, Data Caching, URLRewriting, Scheduled Tasks - Administrator Permissions (Choose who can access which admin features) - Support for searching article attachments using full-text search - Ability to define article approval work-flows & escalation paths - Ability for email's sent to support@yourcompany.com, to be automatically detected and added to the knowledge base - Ability to direct submitted questions to specific administrators based on category or keywords that appear within question - Automated suggestions for articles based on submitted question - Optional Integration with InstantForum.NET to allow article discussions - Improved front-end user login options (create accounts, request passwords etc) - Active Directory authentication - Use of client-side DHTML and load on demand tree nodes to speed category access - Revised admin control panel with many more configurable options These are the key features that we are hoping will be included. Many other small improvements & customer requests will be added. Further down the road we see InstantKB.NET supporting ticketing, help-desk specific features, scheduled data import, aggregate search for automated responses (pull results from forum, knowledge base, attachments etc), custom reports, self-learning & much more. I'll try to keep everyone posted with development progress over the next couple of months
 Kindest Regards,
Ryan Healey Director / Developer

Wow, this is great news! Bring it on! I think you had mentioned this eariler for the forums product and I didn't follow this much since I use only use the KB, but are you going to make it easier to skin the product than it currently is with 1.3? Thanks! Zup

| Hi Zup, Many thanks for your comments. We are hoping to apply the same skinning architecture that's in place for InstantForum.NET v4.0 to the next release of InstantKB.NET. This will allow completely different layouts & visual appearances for each skin and also provide developers with a Master Page template to easily wrap existing HTML around the skin. Many of the features that can be seen within InstantForum.NET v4.0 such as data caching, url rewriting, skinning & localization are planned for the next InstantKB.NET release. The next InstantKB.NET release will also take advantage of our new shared authentication model so the forum, knowledge base & any future InstantASP applications can share all the same users and roles. We'll be keeping the forum updated with development progress,
 Kindest Regards,
Ryan Healey Director / Developer

| For v2.0 - does "url rewriting" mean that the KB will be able to be indexed by search engines which don't like "?" in a link? Thanks.

Dear Barry, We have addressed the "?" problem by using URL rewriting and encoding the details that would normally follow the "?" within the page name. This will be available in the next major release.
